#OGP16 Poetic Speech : Harmony 2020 – A World Wide Win Win

Democracy Night

This week gathers the Global Summit in Paris of the Open Government Partnership. One of the main events was the Democracy Night (La Nuit de la Démocratie) animated by Julien Letailleur, fictive candidate at the french presidential elections in 2017. 3 main topics had been chosen: the digital revolution, empowerment and crowdsourced intelligence, and renewing education.

Speakers came on stage throughout the night to give their insights. We had the chance to listen to Primavera de Filippi, Berkman-Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School, Nigel Shadbolt, The Open Data Institute, Joel de Rosnay, foresight thinker, Henri Verdier, Prime Minister’s Office, Tanja Aitamurto, School of Engineering at Stanford University, Samuel Sinyangwe, Datactivist (Campaign Zero, Mapping Police Violence), Pablo Soto, Mairie de Madrid, Cynthia Fleury*, American University of Paris, Sandra Laugier, Université Paris 1, Jérémy Lachal, Bibliothèques sans frontiers, Navi Radjou, Author, speaker and strategist , and François Taddei, Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires.

Harmony 2020, A Worldwide Win Win

I don’t know if you ever realized,
We got a left wing and a right wing in politics, but we still can’t fly,
So why not build our own common good spaceship and call it Harmony Airlines?
Because if a word poem can inspire our souls together,
Then maybe a love letter could change the world forever.

Jean Cocteau once said “the poet remembers the future” and that wasn’t wishful thinking.
So welcome to a new era of the world wide web called the World Wide Win Win.

Why have we forgotten that in the word “Humanity” lies the very hidden letters of “unity”?
And why couldn’t we possibly renew our democracies and co create an inclusive world of harmony ?
Sign a partnership to infinity, to embark on a wonderful human journey
Designed as our Masterpiece, born from our intimate collective dreams
Out of all 7 billion citizens across the globe, which is still THE single largest entity: the civil society.

Ladies and gentlemen of the dreams,
This is our rendez-vous with History or should we say, with Destiny.

“So follow me!” “What do you mean, follow me?!”
No, don’t ever believe this from anybody from now on,
Let it be known that the new reality is only “FOLLOW WE”!

Because
We the people, in our common future we trust,
We the people, it’s that human nature in us,
We the people, we are now mature enough,
We the people, forever let the love be first,

We the people, together we are the strongest,
We the people, take that family picture of all of us,
We the people, no system nor trend cannot be reversed,
We the people, in each I of U we see a little bit of US,
Because We the people ARE the universe in a single unique verse.

Citizens of the world, artists of the sun,
Activists of love and humans on the run,
A melting pot from top to bottom and all of the above:
Dreamers, thinkers, doers, innovators,
Crazy loners, soul searchers, change makers,
Pioneers, all super heroes with natural human powers
Mixed in a rainbow of all our collars and colors.

We can now scale up and synchronize our local initiatives for a global change.
If time is of the essence, today’s challenge is in our hands and also our greatest chance
To design a roadmap and a full path with a horizon and a future to land :

Transparency and anti-corruption, governance and climate action,
Digital commons, access to information, civic tech and sustainable solutions,
Inside an open parliament Uniting all of the Nations.
This is why we are here tonight ready for marching!

And it’s not “Yes We Can” any more, it’s “Yes We Will”,
Make the ideal of tomorrow real for our kids to say “Yes We Did”.
So let’s find that human life compromise and that World Wide Win Win,
“C’est la vie” ou “c’est l’avenir”, and as we say in french, Oui Oui Oui…

…We do have a choice and we all have a voice,
To make more than just noise, to fight that noble cause.
We don’t want to maximize our earnings,
We want to harmonize the living.
I mean, isn’t a worldwide love life worthwhile, if money ain’t a thing?
Change the world for “good” not for “goodS” and let that soul search sing.

We can be part of the solution… or we can be part of the pollution.
What future holds for the next generations, if the world is guided solely by financial corporations?
If congress is a concept, then progress must be a project.
The world is ours and the future is in us to co-write it and co-sign it with our own footsteps.

This Global Summit is here to sum it all up and submit a proposal to the committee,
So that in 20-20 we throw a worldwide Harmony Party with plenty plenty
Of abundance, human conscience, and peace in the making.
If yesterday, property rimed with greed and money,
Let’s rise to make sure tomorrow’s society, rimes with openness, happiness and harmony.

Having the consciousness to change, evolve and finally be kind,
This may very well be the miracle of life and the beauty of mankind.
We the people, all created equal, nobody is evil so imagine the riddle,
“A dream you dream alone is only a dream, a dream we dream together is reality”,
Said a wise man once from the Beatles in a song destined to us all… Imagine…

So let the people decide their fate and please have faith,
All the solutions already exist if we would just open the gates,
For a global warming of the hearts and collective well-being in the art of living together.
We don’t “have” the power, we “are” the power!

To conclude, I would like us together to take an oath
To pursue our collective harmony growth
With a new pledge of tolerance :

“We pledge allegiance to the Pact of the United Citizens of the World
And to the Republic of Harmony for which it stands, one Humanity under Good,
With invincible principles of peace, liberty, happiness and justice for all”

The future of our democracies is on its way and we’re just a few heartbeats away,
Because no matter what happens, life always finds a way.
Harmony 2020, Follow We, for that first 21st century World Wide Win Win…
